Julhash Ali Library

The objective of the service is to enable users to find, identify, select, and retrieve information available in the library and to facilitate prompt availability of new materials. The Library catalogue is accessible from all the computers connected to the LAN. Transaction status of an individual can also be traced out with the help of the service. How to search the catalog

• Use the url: 200.200.200.143:8001 in the address bar of any internet browser
• Put the title or any keyword in the search box to check the availability of the book
• Log in with the given user name and password to check the status

The general members can reserve, borrow and renew the resources available in the Julhash Ali Information Centre. Library special and members are to pay the amount in Julhash ali library and submit the application form. One can renew his/ her Temporary Membership paying necessary dues.

General members: Library general members basically incorporate all the students, faculties, visiting faculties, administrators, staffs and researchers of the university community. They are entitled to free membership of the University Library. Students are automatically made members when they register with the university.

Special Member: Renowned personalities, alumni, retirees, Government employees, corporate, college and distance learners and scholars may get Special Membership by depositing special membership fees. They have to submit the membership form along with applications making special request for the use of the library.

Temporary members: Students, Researchers, Academicians who are not the member of the university community can apply for Temporary membership of the library for studying reading materials of the library at the library premises. He/ She have to submit valid proof of identity (like College Identity Card, etc) along with the application (prescribed).

Library Fees
Library members are to pay the amount in Julhash ali library and submit the application form. One can renew his/ her Temporary Membership paying necessary dues. Library charges for special and temporary members are as follows.

One Week  - INR 100
One Month - INR 300
One Year    - INR 100

Mode of Payment
Payment can be done by DD or cash mode. Please make the DD in favour of Don Bosco Institute, payable at Guwahati and send it to "Librarian, Don Bosco Institute, Joypur, Kharghuli, Guwahati-781004, Assam"

Interlibrary loan: The information or materials which are not in the library may be borrowed from the collaborative library or institution in case the cost involved in delivery will borne by the individual.

Document Delivery Service
On demand we can also send the required documents provided the postal and photocopying charges are borne by the individuals.

Finding right information in right time is the biggest challenge in today’s changing environment. Hence, The objective of information service is to provide users with information, effective help and advice about centre’s services and resources. Our continuous focus has been on giving awareness to the people by giving idea, effective help and advice about centre’s services and resources, search strategies and information literacy. Besides that the centre considered as the hub of information on North East region of India.

With all of the information now available, it is becoming harder and more time consuming to find good, reliable information. Information professionals have the responsibility in total management of information resources, including identifying, selecting, evaluating, securing and providing access to pertinent information resources. These resources may be in any media or format. We encourage the use of information and make information accessible to the users who either come in person or who make contact by phone, e-mail or letter but depending on the nature and depth of the enquiries the time of responses may vary.

Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) Service
Julhash Ali Library helps and assists professors to keep up-to-date with their subject area by offering Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) services. A 'Selective Dissemination Service' also known as current-awareness services, as a type of library service that attempts “to supply customers with all the latest information exclusively relevant for them”. In other words, it involves tools and resources that endeavor to notify patrons of potentially useful material that matches their expressed information needs and interests on a regular basis. Assist Researchers
Julhash Ali Information Centre makes the efforts to support the scholars who are in need of research assistance by guiding them in different information literacy matters, citation and referencing styles, topic oriented and other related information.

The Julhash Ali Library offers a number of value added services to its patrons and users.

Printing, Scanning and Photocopying Services
PCs with document and image scanners are available at the Julhash Ali Library. Printing and photocopying facilities are also available at very low cost.

Reference / Referral Services
The centre always ensures its user to assist and refer the right sources of information to go through and to retrieve authentic and pinpointed information they require. The users are referred the cumulative reference sources to find quality information.

Resource Sharing
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University and Don Bosco Institute of Management has been produced and entered into on 1st August, 2013. This MoU sets some objectives to work together both the parties in order to provide an effective resource sharing service. The agreement aims to deliver required articles/book/e-document etc on request and allows indirect access to various e-databases.

The Library is looking for more collaboration to gain more coverage of resources as well.
